DTRA 2018 News and Dates

Lots of news from the DTRA. Firstly, Indian Motorcycle (that's how they write it, not motorcycles) has committed to another significant sponsorship to allow the UK scene to improve and grow. Their money goes towards guaranteeing the best medical cover at races and improved timing in the form of transponders, plus the development of tracks like Greenfield and also, literally, rainy day cover in case an expensive weekend like Amman Valley is rained out and race entries need refunding, but significant costs are still incurred. So, from a racer, thanks Indian!

Here's what the DTRA says...

Dirt Track Riders Association is excited to announce our new line up of events for the 2019 season. We have been working hard over the last few months to develop an interesting set of events that will continue to help develop flat track racing in the UK and across mainland Europe.

2018 was by far the biggest season for the DTRA and we are planning to build on the success of the 2019 season and promote new ideas and experiences for 2019.

Our championship will once again be contested over seven rounds [but only six rounds go towards a racer's total. GI] here in the UK with all the classes you have come to expect from our events, Hooligan racing will once again feature at our events and we will again share some of our Hooligan rounds with other organisations.

All adult and youth classes: Round 1 - Kings Lynn - April 13-14th Round 2 - MCN Festival Peterborough May 17th-19th Round 3 - Greenfield TT June 8th-9th Round 4 and Round 5 - Ammanford 1/2 Mile July 20th - 21st Round 6 - TBA (Aug) Round 7 Sept - Greenfield Oval Sept 21st -22nd

Hooligans Round 1 - Kings Lynn - April 13th Round 2 - Hells Race - May 5th Round 3 & 4 - MCN Festival Peterborough May 17th-19th Round 5 - TBA (August 10th) Greenfield Oval Sept 21st (Rain date for hooligan)

New for 2019 is our European Championship where riders from all over Europe will be able to score points at key events on the 2019 calendar in an effort to become a 2019 European Champion.

We hope the European Championship will help to grow flat track racing outside the USA. Our aim is to offer an opportunity for riders from all over Europe to compete at well organised events against other like minded individuals in certain classes.

We are working to develop this championship into something that will help our riders to compete against the best in the world. With this in mind we have teamed up with Johnny Lewis at Motoanatomy to offer the 2019 Pro Class winner a supported scholarship ride at an event in the USA during 2019 (more details soon).
