C-Tex Presents: 2002 Daytona Short Track

Cory Texter is not only the 2019 AFT Production Twins champion, Sideburn columnist and podcaster, he's a total flat track nerd. Who better to recommend flat track race highlights on YouTube to watch? The Daytona Short Track in 2002 was nothing short of epic. Flat track was in a weird transitional period at that time. Many of the top riders were still riding Rotax-powered racebikes, but the emergence of the motocross-framed DTX bikes were being put in production as seen with J

    Nathalie in the Sunshine State

Earlier this year, UK racer and friend of the mag, Nathalie Legrand spent a week at Johnny Lewis' Moto Anatomy school in Florida. She supplied a diary of the intense week. Cory Texter is organising another winter race in Florida (where winter is something they see on TV). Classes for just about everyone you can imagine and supported by lots of pros who make Florida their home now. See more at the official Winter Throwdown event page. AFT Production Twins champ, Cory has also written a couple of regulars for the next Sideburn, out in early-December. Make sure you get hold of it by subscribing to Sideburn. Super poster by, yep, Ryan Roadkill. #Co

    Sons of Speed

We featured the Sons of Speed, in Sideburn 34, when Ed Subias covered a race in Florida for us. The Sons of Speed are a group of American racers committed to restoring, preserving and thrashing the spuds off 100-year-old board track racers. The boardtracks, aka murderdromes, are all gone but the group use banked tarmac ovals, like New Smyrna in Florida, and also race dirt ovals. The film below gives insight into the group and the founding members. BUY SIDEBURN 34 #Boardtrack
