Our friends at See See Motorcycles in Portland pulled off another fantastic collab, though this one is a bit more mysterious. Adidas made run of these hi-tops but they never actually went on sale.

Still, See See made this magnificent film to advertise the shoes (that you can't buy).

It features lots of See See friends and family who have featured in Sideburn magazine, including Jimmy Hill, Sergey Tattooer, Tori George. George Kassapakis and our very own Todd Marella.

The Estenson Yamaha team has spent the last five years investing heavily in both technology and talent (riding and technical) to enable the CP2 motor to challenge the Indian FTR750.

That engine is a street bike/production motor that powers the Ténéré 700, MT-07, XSR700 and latest generation R7.

The Estenson bikes have won seven of the 16 rounds this year, five for Dallas Daniels, two for JD Beach. Even though the Indian has had restrictions put on it (crank weight, intake size, rear wheel weight limit), Jared Mees has won eight races in 2023 on the FTR750. Briar Bauman won the other on his KTM (that was in Sideburn 53). With two rounds to go, a double-header at the Springfield Mile on 2-3 September, Mees leads Daniels by ONE POINT!

For Sideburn 54 we interviewed Tommy Hayden, the team's Director of Racing Operations, to find out a lot more about the bike. So if you want to find out more... ORDER SIDEBURN 54

Phantom Passenger Manifest

Years ago I bought my first nice motorcycle

and later, unrelated, was single. The bike

featured a passenger backrest

to which I gave

little thought.

That ride was my everything transportation

and over days and weeks gradually

appeared less appealing

to swing a leg over.

Eventually I’d sigh dreadfully

meandering to where

it leaned curbside.

Then one day

I removed the passenger backrest

to transport a large box.

The next morning I walked out the door

saw the maroon bodywork

glinting in the sun-dew

and grinned.

So much of life, of our

emotional arboretum

is the result of

either

microscopic pruning

or metastatic neglect,

fertilizing

the outlook,

the disposition

we carry with us

into our mornings

our weeks

our lives
