The FIM - the international governing/sanctioning body for motorcycle racing - have been running a flat track World championship in Europe for a few years now, but it has remained quite low profile. For the first time in the championship's short history, the series will come to the UK, when the Belle Vue speedway track, Manchester, will host round one.
Belle Vue CEO Mark Lemon, says 'It’s such an exciting form of motorsport, very similar to action we love to watch here at Belle Vue every week, and I‘m certain any fan of speedway will find this event most entertaining. We are privileged to have been given such a prestigious event by the FIM and we are very much looking forward to bringing world-class flat track to the city of Manchester.”
The full dates, for the compressed season, are:
5 August: Manchester, UK
9 September: Debrecen, Hungary
16 September: Boves, Italy
23 September: Pardubice, Czech Republic
8 October: Morizès, France

great to see the series run in a pretty compact schedule. No doubt more international riders will participate, including Australia and New Zealand in the future.
Nice to see international acknowledgement of North America's original extreme two-wheeled motorsport.
That's great news!! I will be back in the UK at that time so looking forward to it. Really enjoyed the National Flat Track Race at Castle Rock last year and looking forward to riding to the One Moto Show again this year. Hope to see you there Gary!
